Canterbury Villa's Tailgating for Teachers

Canterbury Villa hosted its 2nd Annual Tailgating for Teachers this past Friday, July 19th, with a fantastic turnout and over 10 vendors providing back-to-school supplies for teachers. This event is a testament to our commitment to fostering community connections throughout the year, and we were thrilled to help over 70 teachers this year!
The event, conceptualized by Samantha Nutter, aimed to target the adult demographic and address the significant need for teachers to fill their classrooms without having to spend their own money. Samantha, a marketer, recognized that while there are many drives to fill kids’ backpacks, teachers also need support to equip their classrooms.
Held at Canterbury Villa in Alliance, Ohio, the Tailgating for Teachers event brought together a vibrant community of residents, employees, families, and local community members. Attendees enjoyed food, games, music, and various booths. One highlight was a raffle for a pizza party giveaway, allowing teachers to celebrate with their students at a date of their choosing.
The event saw collaboration from several facilities and organizations, including Ohio's Hospice, Mcrae Manor, Advantage Home Health, Louisville Gardens, Stonecreek AL, Aultman Alliance Hospice, Care Patrol, and Patriot Home Care.
The overall feel of the event was one of happiness, gratitude, and heartfelt appreciation. Teachers were genuinely thankful for the support in filling their classrooms with much-needed supplies. Residents and staff members loved seeing the community come together and appreciated the positive impact of the donations.
Events like this are vital for fostering good connections between facilities, communities, and home care providers. They fill a significant need in the community and allow our residents to feel more involved and connected. Some residents even donated supplies and their time to the event, enhancing their sense of independence and normalcy.
