Canterbury Celebrates Our Activity Professionals!

Canterbury loves taking the opportunity to recognize our hardworking staff. In celebration of National Activity Professionals Week, which started January 23, we'd like to shine the spotlight on our activity staff!

Deanna Hydrick is our Activity Director who plans the events and gatherings. It has been rough the past few years with the outbreak of Covid, but the Activities staff has taken on the challenge and continues to be alert to any changes that may surround the virus. The staff has visited the residents in their rooms to play games, listen to music, read, get manicures, talk, and so much more!



Deanna, as well as the rest of the activity team, share that the residents become like family. Deanna even had her wedding in the courtyard surrounded by our residents. "Ever since I was young, my dream was to be like the Cruise Director, Julie, on "The Love Boat," I always wanted to plan games and parties for others," says Deanna. "I have the best job in the world! What could be more fun than shopping, playing games and making people smile?"

Kim Emery is also a big part of the activity staff. She started as an STNA then joined the Activity Department. The residents love Kim's energy and always comment on how she flys around the building, assisting residents and staff alike. Kim says, "I feel Activities lets you see another part of the residents' lives. We don't just tend to the activities of daily living. I get to learn more about their lives. We're the fun girls, and the residents know it."

Danielle Osterfeld has worked in the Activity Department since she was 16 years old. She then went on to become an STNA. Recently she completed her education in Radiology Oncology. She continues to work on weekends because she has such a bond with our residents. Danielle says, "I've met a lot of people in my life but none like my Canterbury Residents."

We are truly blessed to have such a caring Activities Staff! Thank you, ladies, for the enthusiasm and creativity you bring every day!
